US cash Tuesday (29 Sep 2026): S&P 500 closed 7,670.84 (−0.17%); Dow Jones Industrial Average 51,349.92 (−0.26%); Nasdaq Composite 26,797.54 (−0.08%); Russell 2000 2,807.92 (−0.4%). VIX session colour roughly 16.0–16.1 (soft until Cboe settle locked).

Yields (hard lock — Treasury Daily Yield Curve CMT 29 Sep): 2-year 4.89% · 10-year 5.26% · 30-year 5.59%. Prefer the CMT row as the dated official lock; secondary cash/feed bands stay soft vs that print.

Oil — settles (hard): Brent Nov $102.59 (−2.6%); WTI Nov $89.38 (−3.5%). Settled lower, still elevated vs summer — not a collapse claim. Prefer these settles over alternate live feeds.

FX soft: Dollar firm (DXY ~101.4 soft); USD/INR onshore ~95.99 / RBI reference 96.0321 (29 Sep).

Into India Wednesday: Tue IST cash already soft — Sensex 72,480 (−0.40%), Nifty 22,683 (−0.42%). Primary clocks today: Elevate Campuses list-watch (CC wire) · Moneyview demat/refund (CC wire). Overnight US soft + 5.26% CMT 10Y + settled-but-elevated oil is the global weather into cash open and the US data day.

Takeaway: Not panic — the price of money did the work. Today’s US tape pivots on ADP, then August PCE + Q2 GDP third estimate (8:30 ET).

Analysis

What Tuesday’s US cash tape printed

All three majors finished a touch lower. Dow led the soft print (−0.26%); S&P gave −0.17%; Nasdaq was nearly flat (−0.08%). Russell also red (−0.4%) — not a clean small-cap shelter day. That is a rates / oil digestion session after Monday’s harder wash (prior CC), not a forced panic label.

The CMT lock and the oil settle

Official U.S. Treasury Daily Yield Curve Rates (CMT) for 29 Sep 2026:

TenorCMT
2Y4.89%
10Y5.26%
30Y5.59%

That keeps the global discount-rate weather loud — same mechanism Capital Chronicle framed when the 10Y sat near ~5% earlier this month (prior explainer).

Oil settles (29 Sep): NYMEX WTI Nov $89.38 (−3.5%); ICE Brent Nov $102.59 (−2.6%). Desk rule: cite settles, not a live alternate-feed collapse. Crude is still elevated vs summer — soft oil helped the breath; it does not cancel a 5.26% 10Y CMT.
