NSE IPO Day-3 wrap: retail crosses 1×, book ~2.38× so far
Afternoon wrap (updated ~1:10 PM IST) has overall ~2.38× with retail ~1.02× — all main portions above full. Still an intraday Day-3 print: EOD exchange tables after the close are the final score.
60-sec
On the final subscription day (Monday, 21 September 2026) for the National Stock Exchange of India’s mega IPO — ~₹22,562 crore, 100% Offer for Sale — an afternoon wrap (updated ~1:10 PM IST) put the book at about 2.38× overall: ~21.07 crore bids against ~8.86 crore shares on offer.
Category print in that wrap: QIB ~3.75×, NII ~3.72×, retail ~1.02×, employee ~2.05× — framed as all portions fully booked. That is the headline change vs the morning desk’s Day-2 / early Day-3 colour, where retail was still the soft line below 1×.
Structure unchanged: price band ₹1,700–₹1,785; lot 8 (~₹14,280 at the upper band); BSE-only listing; anchors earlier ~₹6,746 crore. Tentative process calendar in public wraps: allotment 22 Sep, demat / unblock 23 Sep, listing 24 Sep.
Caveat: this is an afternoon / “so far” Day-3 wrap, not the final exchange EOD table. Retail / UPI cutoffs typically run later than midday. Prefer tonight’s official subscription dump over any single screen grab.
Takeaway: The live story flipped from “will retail fill?” to “retail has crossed 1× on this afternoon print — wait for EOD.” No allotment or listing forecast.
Analysis
Why this afternoon print matters
Our morning close-day piece held the Day-2 ** wrap (overall ~1.16×, retail ~0.72×) and refused invented Day-3 multiples. Midday and early-afternoon exchange-cited wraps then climbed: HDFC Sky-style mid-morning colour ~1.46×** / retail ~0.88×; later prints moved through ~1.73× (retail ~94%) into the ~2.38× / retail ~1.02× afternoon update we use here.
Crossing retail 1× changes the odds narrative readers care about:
- Below 1× retail, media shorthand often frames higher chance of at least the minimum lot (subject to valid bids and mandates).
- At / above 1×, retail enters lottery / pro-rata territory like other oversubscribed books — all else equal.
- Institutions were already well above full on earlier wraps; the afternoon print extends that (QIB / NII both ~3.7×+ in the BT update).
None of that is a prediction of allotment for any applicant. Failed UPI mandates do not count. Final multiples can still move into the evening.
OFS reminder (cash destination)
This remains an ownership-transfer event: selling shareholders monetise; NSE itself does not receive IPO proceeds for capex. Readers bidding for a stake in market infrastructure are not funding a fresh balance-sheet raise. Separate that from next week’s Moneyview book (band ₹32–34, public open 24 Sep, per public pipeline colour) — a fintech fresh + OFS raise lined up right after this close week.
Soft spots (do not flatten)
- Figures are timestamped afternoon colour (~1:10 PM IST), not guaranteed final EOD.
- Earlier Day-3 snapshots (1.46× / 1.70× / 1.73×) are consistent with a climbing book, not conflicting “finals.”
- Issue-size wording still floats ~₹22,561–₹22,562 crore across wraps.
- Listing / allotment dates are process-dependent.
- No politics; no advice to bid, hold, or skip.
What to watch tonight and this week
- Official Day-3 EOD subscription tables from the exchanges.
- Allotment status ~22 Sep via registrar / broker apps.
- BSE debut colour ~24 Sep — price discovery, not a morality play on subscription multiples.
