Founder funding roundup: Flam, Disha, Carrum — three September raises

QED-led Flam ($40 Mn), General Catalyst–led Disha (₹43.88 Cr), and Uber-led Carrum ($10 Mn) — a founder-angle skim of mid-September India cheques, not a market thaw call.

Three mid-September founder-led raises worth putting on the same page — different stages, different books:

  1. Flam — $40 million Series B led by QED Investors. Founders Shourya Agarwal, Malhar Patil, Amit Gaiki. 15 Sep; follow-on founder/week colour into 20 Sep. Participants named across coverage include Claypond Capital, Australian Gulf Capital, SRK family office, angels (Martin Chavez, Olivier Pomel, Venky Harinarayan), plus follow-ons from RTP Global and Dovetail. We already covered the weekly-tape angle in Flam’s $40 Mn Series B anchors a thin funding week; this piece is the founder roundup.

  2. Disha (formerly Curelink) — ₹43.88 crore Series A led by General Catalyst, with Elevation Capital participating (19 Sep). Founders Aman Singla and Divyansh Jain. Filings-cited split in that wrap: GC ₹38.20 Cr, Elevation ₹5.20 Cr, Flamel Performing Creatives ₹48 lakh.

  3. Carrum Mobility — $10 million Series B led by Uber. Founder Karan Jain. 10 Sep (company wraps 9 Sep). B2B fleet platform; CNG/EV fleets supporting mobility operations including Uber Black colour in those reports. Uber’s second cheque after a $7 Mn January 2026 tranche (same wraps).

Takeaway: Read as three founder stories with named leads — AI interactive content, vernacular health coaching, B2B fleet ops — not as proof the funding winter ended.

Analysis

Flam — founders selling interactive enterprise content

Who: BITS Pilani alumni cofounders Shourya Agarwal, Malhar Patil, Amit Gaiki. HQ San Francisco; teams in India and Japan.

What the cheque funds (company line): AI model R&D, product expansion, global enterprise sales (15 Sep).

Founder-angle note: Celebrity/family-office participation (SRK family office) travels in every headline; the operating claim that matters for diligence is still the enterprise customer path (company cites 100+ enterprises in six quarters, naming Google, Reliance, Hyundai in). Valuation this round: undisclosed in those reports. Coverage notes the $40 Mn as a mix of primary and secondary — important when reading “how much cash hit the balance sheet.”

Disha — founders Singla & Jain, GC leads Series A

Who: Aman Singla and Divyansh Jain; platform rebranded from Curelink to Disha — AI-powered health coaching (diet, fitness, chronic-care) in Hindi / English / Hinglish.

Round math (regulatory filings): ₹43.88 crore Series A; board approved 12,309 Series A CCPS at ₹35,643.64 per share. Lead General Catalyst; existing investor Elevation back in. the estimate puts post-money near ₹288 crore (~52% up vs prior ~₹190 crore) — label as estimate, not a company disclosure.

Prior: ~$3.5 million seed led by Elevation and Venture Highway (same wrap).

Use of proceeds (filings): working capital, AI models/platform, expansion, capital base, general corporate.

Carrum — founder Karan Jain, Uber as Series B lead

Who: Founder & CEO Karan Jain; Gurugram-based B2B fleet management platform.

Cheque: $10 Mn (~₹96 Cr) Series B led by Uber — Uber’s second investment after $7 Mn in January 2026 (10 Sep / 9 Sep wraps). Founder-sourced colour (9 Sep) cites Jain putting post-money near ~$168 Mn (₹16 Bn) and Uber stake in the “mid-teens” — founder-sourced valuation colour, not a filing we re-audit here.

Ops colour in those wraps: 5,000+ vehicles across Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Kolkata; 18,000+ drivers; CNG/EV mix; Chennai launch planned; annualised revenue run-rate colour ~₹400 crore and “profitable since first month” are company claims in those wraps — treat as self-reported.

Strategic read (without hype): Uber writing a second cheque into a fleet partner is a supply-side bet (vehicles + drivers for premium/Black-style ops), parallel to Uber’s other India fleet investments named in companion coverage — not a consumer-app funding story.

How to read the three together

StartupStage / sizeLeadFounder signal
FlamSeries B / $40 MnQEDEnterprise AI content; celebrity FO as colour
DishaSeries A / ₹43.88 CrGeneral CatalystHealth-tech vernacular; GC entry
CarrumSeries B / $10 MnUberOperator+tech fleet; strategic lead

Same calendar week cluster does not equal a broad thaw. Cheque composition (primary vs secondary), who led, and what the company sells still matter more than the roundup headline.

Soft spots (do not flatten)

  • Flam prior-round size still shows a soft $14–15 Mn conflict across public wraps — do not invent a reconciliation here.
  • Disha valuation (~₹288 Cr) is an estimate in secondary coverage.
  • Carrum valuation / Uber stake % are founder quotes in secondary coverage.
  • No politics; no advice to invest in any private round.
